Lock-Out and Key Policy

Keys - Keys are the property of the University and issued to a specific students. Do not loan or borrow keys.  Please turn in lost keys to a member of the residence hall staff or at the Information desk in the J.C. Williams Center. For safety and security reasons, report all lost keys to a residence life staff members (including Resident Assistants) within 24 hours. There is minimum charge of $50 to replace the lock when a key is lost.  If a student reports a lost key at the end of a semester, the student will be charged $50 to replace the lock plus an additional fine for failure to report the lost key in a timely manner.

Doors - Exterior doors of the residence halls are locked 24/7.  The student ID card is used to access the student's assigned hall. Lending a Student ID Card to anyone is prohibited and subject to a fine. For security reasons, report a lost ID card to Security immediately so that it can be deactivated. Replacement Student ID Cards are available at the Enrollment Services Counter in Starvaggi Hall for a nominal fee.

Do not prop exterior doors. Certain exterior doors are alarmed for safety and security reasons. Do not use alarmed to enter or exit a residence hall except in an emergency.

Lock Outs - If you are locked out of your room or the building please contact your roommate to gain entrance. If your roommate is unavailable, contact a resident assistant. After 1:00 am, contact Campus Security to gain entrance into the hall.  Security will not open individual room doors.
