Franciscan University’s Student Work Opportunity Program (SWOP) is an important component of the University’s mission to educate, evangelize, and send forth joyful disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit. SWOP provides work opportunities each semester for hundreds of students across nearly every campus department.

SWOP positions and policies aim to achieve the following goals:

  •  Complement and enhance academic learning;

  • Assist in the discernment of personal vocation;

  • Encourage growth in virtue and ongoing conversion;

  • Promote the dignity of human work;

  • Develop professional competencies and career readiness skills;

  • Provide students with financial resources to attend the University.

The employment of students at Franciscan University of Steubenville is intended to be mutually beneficial to both the students and the University.  SWOP plays an indispensable role in the life and operation of the University; most University departments and many University services depend upon the dedication and competent work of student employees to fulfill their particular responsibilities in service to the mission of the University. At the same time, student work is a complement to the student’s academic program.

More information can be found on the Student Work Opportunity Program (SWOP) page on The Port.

The SWOP Office is in the Student Life suite on the top floor of the J. C. Williams Center.
