E. Vehicle Immobiliztion, Towing, and Relocation

  1. Franciscan University reserves the right to immobilize any vehicle parked in violation of the University’s parking regulations at the owner’s expense. Immobilization or towing and relocation (see below) of a vehicle may happen with no warning, even if the owner has no previous violations. Any vehicle that is parked illegally, parked in violation of university regulations or that must be moved for special events or maintenance is considered to be parked in violation of University regulations.
  2. In the event the vehicle is immobilized, the driver must contact Campus Security by calling 283-6319 so the device can be removed .DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE with the auto-boot in place.The auto-boot removal fee must be paid before the auto-boot is removed. The auto-boot is the property of Franciscan University of Steubenville and any damage done to the auto-boot will make the offender liable for the destruction of University property. Removing this device or moving the vehicle by any means or in any manner before an official release of the auto-boot is obtained by Campus Security constitutes a separate and additional violation. The University is not responsible for damage caused if the vehicle is moved with the auto-boot in place.
  3. In extreme cases, Franciscan University reserves the right to tow and relocate (to another campus site) any vehicle parked in violation of the University’s parking regulations at the owner’s expense. This includes but is not limited to emergency situations, blocking other vehicles, creating a safety hazard, or any other situation determined necessary.
