Pre-Law

Students who wish to prepare for the legal profession at Franciscan University of Steubenville will discover a number of academic programs to equip them for the rigor of study in law school.

Law schools do not require a specific college academic major. Students may choose any major that will help them individually to develop skills that are essential for the practice of law. Vital skills to be developed in pre-law study include verbal and writing skills, analytical and reasoning skills, and a critical understanding of the human institutions and moral principles with which the law deals.

In addition to choosing a particular academic major program of studies, students should carefully select a program of elective courses that will augment their preparations for the study and practice of law such as those that can be taken for the Legal Studies Minor.
