Catholic Youth Ministry Minor

The Catholic Youth Ministry Minor gives students a comprehensive understanding of the Church’s vision of ministries with youth (13-18 years of age) and examines effective practices of accompaniment, missionary activity, catechesis, service, and discipleship with Catholic teenagers. Though primarily focused on high school, the pastoral principles learned within the minor also apply to ministries with junior high and college students. 

Course Requirements

Required Courses:

Students must complete the following four courses:

Other recommended courses are CAT 412 Youth Ministry Internship, PSY 209 Adolescent Psychology, and THE 395 Theology of the Body.

Those who seek a professional career in the field of youth ministry are encouraged to take this minor in conjunction with a major in Catechetics and Evangelization (where it becomes a Concentration in Youth Ministry—a stronger academic credential) and/or a major in TheologySee a Catechetics faculty advisor for details.
