Journalism Concentration

Assessment Learning Goals

At the completion of the journalism concentration, the graduate is able to:

  1. Understand the proper writing style for the type of information that is to be presented.
  2. Be able to write a variety of types of stories.
  3. Know and use AP style correctly.
  4. Understand the Catholic Church’s teachings on media and the role of the Christian in the media.
  5. Understand the principles of design.
  6. Be familiar with the software programs that are used in print journalism.
  7. Understand the role of the press in a democracy.
