Course requirements with in this area of specialization have been crafted so that students have broad exposure across the various fields of natural and applied science, with one discipline studied in greater depth (i.e. for a full year), and with at least one laboratory course.
Degree Requirements
Associate of Arts Degree in Natural and Applied Science
The student is required to take 60 credit hours of courses, the last 15 of which must be earned through Franciscan University. Fifteen (15) of these credit hours must be devoted to the CORE as follows:
One theology core course
One philosophy core course
One additional theology or philosophy core course
One history or social science or American foundation principles core course
One literature or Catholic traditions in the fine arts core course
The remaining 45 credits must be earned in (a) the student's area of specialization, in this case natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, and engineering (at least 24 credits) and (b) free electives (up to 21 credits, with the following requirements:
MTH 160 or higher level Math--3 credits
Six to eight credits from one of the following sets of course sequences, plus another four to six credits from additional courses on this list; at least one course with a laboratory component (denoted *) must be included:
