Academic Organizations
Education is a bridge to professional life. To promote the spirit of community among majors and to bring together students and professional men and women in a student’s chosen field, many departments have associations and societies to further extracurricular activities. They also provide speakers, films, and field trips that are of interest to the entire University community.
Baja Racing Club
The Baja Racing Club is to design and build a Baja racing car and race in Baja SAE competitions. Through hands-on training, research initiatives, and leadership development, we equip our members with the tools they need to become proficient problem solvers and innovative thinkers. We provide opportunities for research credit and certification preparation, such as CSWA/CSWP, enabling our members to enhance their credentials and advance their careers. Our emphasis on networking skills and teamwork ensures that our members not only gain technical expertise but also develop vital interpersonal skills.
Christian Students in Free Enterprise (CSFE)
A not-for-profit community organization whose mission is to engage and inspire students and communities with entrepreneurial activities that unite the principles of Christianity and the free enterprise system for the advancement of society through innovation, education, and the promotion of the human person by taking Christ into the marketplace.
Franciscan Engineers
The purpose of the Franciscan Engineers club is to provide students with a method by which to partake in engineering projects. Through these projects students will have the opportunities to learn practical design and manufacturing skills while building close relationships with their fellow engineers
German Club
The German Club provides students with opportunities to explore German language, culture, history, and traditions in a fun and welcoming environment. Through cultural activities, conversation, celebrations, games, food, and fellowship, members can deepen their appreciation for the German-speaking world while building friendships and practicing their language skills.
Graduate Theology Colloquium
The Graduate Theology Colloquium provides a setting for graduate students in theology to discuss their research interests with their peers and prepare papers for publication or for conference presentations. The GTC holds weekly meetings either on a topic of general interest or on the ongoing research of a member, with a final Symposium each semester for all interested members to practice presenting papers before an audience.
Nurses 2 Nurses
The purpose of Nurses 2 Nurses is to foster community and among the current students in the nursing program through sponsored Masses dedicated to Nursing students, teaching and mentorship to lowerclassmen, social events, and exposure to career opportunities within the profession
Political Science Association
The Political Science Association enables interested students to probe and discuss political issues outside the classroom, to learn about career possibilities in politics, government, and law, and to build camaraderie among their fellow students in political science. Activities include lectures, career nights, panels, and discussions on current issues, trends, and philosophical questions about politics, as well as social gatherings and trips to visit governmental institutions. Membership is open to all students interested in politics, regardless of major.
Pre-Medical Club
The Pre-Medical Club is a professional student organization dedicated to preparing students for medical school. Pre-medical students balance rigorous coursework, MCAT preparation, clinical exposure, service, and leadership, making the path to medicine both demanding and competitive. The mission of this club is to equip Franciscan students for success in medicine by providing access to keynote speakers, service opportunities, mentorship, and medical school tours.
Psychology Club
The purpose of the Psychology Club is to build strong Catholic community within the Psychology Department and those with majors related to psychology. This is accomplished through weekly meetings, organizing and attending talks, opportunities to connect with professionals and peers, and other events. All of these are aimed towards the long term goal of building up a strong Catholic network in the professional field of psychology. Every activity of the club is committed to defending and exploring the truth, as evident by science and proclaimed in the Catholic faith. We challenge and transform the secular, fallen culture of psychology into a holy, healing culture grounded in the truth.
St. John Bosco
The purpose of the St. John Bosco Society is to foster community between Catechetics majors and between majors and Catechetics faculty, cultivating their growth in holiness and mission through social and formation co- and extra-curricular activities, and connect majors to a network of catechetical professionals through the Catechetical Institute Guild.
Thomistic Institute
The Thomistic Institute exists to share Catholic teaching and tradition in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of students at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone.
Women in Justice, Law, and Forensic Science
Women in Justice, Law, and Forensic Science aims to teach young women in the criminal justice and forensic science departments how to go about their future careers professionally, while building leadership roles and gathering perspectives from working women in the field. It guides women to follow their calling and be directed towards their vocation within the realm of criminal justice. Additionally, it opens the doors for chances of social growth and personal connections, as well as networking opportunities for potential internships and even as a gateway into future careers.
Women in STEM
The purpose of Women in STEM is to create a supportive community among women in the School of Natural and Applied Sciences. The organization provides opportunities for professional development, mentorship, networking, and fellowship while encouraging collaboration and connection among women pursuing different STEM majors.
