Application Procedure
The admission of students to Franciscan University of Steubenville is competitive. Each applicant’s file is carefully reviewed by the Office of Admissions. Students will be reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning that while applications and deposits may be received after stated deadlines, they will only be accepted on a space-available basis.
High School Applicants (New Students)
Students who have graduated from, or are on track to graduate from, an accredited United States high school must submit the following:

High School Transcripts (including the courses which the student is enrolled in for his/her senior year)
- Competitive Applicants should be on track to complete, or have completed, 15 units, with at least 10 in four of the following fields
- English
- Mathematics
- Social Sciences/History
- Lab-based/natural sciences
- Foreign language

Test Scores or Essay

Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to submit SAT, ACT, or CLT scores in support of their application to Franciscan.

Students who do not submit standardized test scores must submit an essay, one-page, double-spaced, 12-point font, answering the following prompt: “At Franciscan University, our mission is ‘to educate, evangelize, and send forth joyful disciples.’ Share a story or example from your life that shows how your faith and intellectual growth have shaped you into who you are today. How do you hope your time at Franciscan University will help you continue to grow spiritually and academically?”
Transfer Applicants
Students who have graduated from high school and attempted 24 or more college credits are considered transfer students. Transfer applicants must submit the following:

Any/all college transcripts must be received in order to properly evaluate an applicant’s admission.

While an applicant may be admitted to the University based off unofficial college transcripts, official copies must be submitted in order to be evaluated for transfer credits.
International Applicants
Applicants who are not United States citizens or Permanent Residents of the United States are considered international applicants. International applicants must submit the following:

Students who are on track to graduate from, or have graduated from high school, must submit his/her high school transcript.

Students who have graduated from high school and have attempted 24 or more college credits must submit his/her college transcript(s).

Any transcript from a non-United States institution must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Students must meet English proficiency requirements. The requirement may be met in the following ways:

The applicant is a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda; Australia, The Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Canada (except Quebec); Cook Islands; Dominica; Ireland; Jamaica; New Zealand; Norway; St. Kitts and Nevis; St. Lucia; St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Sweden; Trinidad and Tobago; United Kingdom.

Transient or Non-Degree Applicants

Readmission
Students who have attempted coursework at Franciscan University and subsequently left the university, must apply for readmission. Students who have been dismissed from Franciscan are ineligible to return until one semester, excluding summer, has expired. Readmission applicants must submit the following:
