CSL 501 Research and Program Evaluation for Mental Health Counselors

This course provides an in-depth examination of research and program evaluation within the counseling profession, in alignment with CACREP standards. Students explore qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research designs; data collection techniques; statistical analysis; and principles of measurement and instrumentation. Emphasis is placed on critically evaluating research for its application to evidence-based counseling practices. The course also addresses models of program evaluation, needs assessment strategies, and methods for using data to improve counseling programs and services. Students will consider the ethical, legal, and culturally responsive aspects of research and evaluation, developing competencies in both conducting and interpreting research that informs clinical decision-making and program development.
