Incomplete Grade Policy

An incomplete ("I") grade indicates that coursework has not been completed because of factors that in the opinion of the instructor were outside the control of the student. Should a student request an incomplete grade from a course instructor, the following criteria must be met:

  1. An extenuating circumstance exists;
  2. The student is passing the course; and
  3. A majority of the work is already completed.

A request for an "I" must be made by the student to the faculty member before the last official day of the semester or term. The faculty member retains the right to make the final decision on granting a student's request for an “I” providing the student meets the provisions above, even though the student may meet the eligibility requirements for this grade.

It is the responsibility of the student to complete and submit the remaining coursework before the assigned deadline. The student has 30 days after the beginning of the succeeding semester to remove an incomplete grade. If it is not removed within that period, the grade automatically becomes F.
