Hours of Operation

See the Facility Hours of Operation in this Handbook for the hours Antonian Hall, The Pub, Cupertino's Cafe, and Egan Express will be open for service.

Meal Plans

The University offers several meal plans for students to choose from, including weekly and block plans. The plans are: 19 weekly meal plan, 265 block plan, 200 block plan, and the 155 block plan. Eligibility for the different plans is based upon class status.

Meal Plan Flex Dollars (Points)

Flex dollars included as part of a meal plan are worth $1 each and may be spent inside Antonian Hall for guest meals or for retail purchases at The Pub, Cupertino's Café, and Egan Express. Flex dollars do not carry over from one semester to another, may not be transferred to another student’s account, and are not redeemable for cash.

Meal Plan Changes

Students wishing to make a change to their meal plan must complete the Meal Plan Add/Change Request Form within the first week of the semester. This form is available in the Student Life Office in the J.C. Williams Center. Once completed, it must be turned in to the Student Life Office by the deadline date on the form. Students will be notified by campus email if their request is denied. No change will be made if students request a meal plan they are not eligible for or if they submit the form after the due date. Changes in meal plan may be subject to an additional charge, depending on the change, as the University pays the food service provider every day a student is on the meal plan.

Meal Exchange

Each student meal plan includes meal exchanges (3 per week for the 19 plan and 5 per week for the block plans). A meal exchange is a swipe normally used in the cafeteria that can be exchanged for $6.50 to be used on fresh items prepared by Parkhurst Dining at The Pub, Cupertino's, or Egan Express. Any amount over $6.50 may be paid in Flex Dollars (points), cash, credit, or Dining Dollars.

*Items prepackaged and not prepared by Parkhurst Dining may not be purchased on a meal exchange but may be purchased with Flex or Dining Dollars.

Dining Dollars

Students who want even more convenience and buying power may purchase Dining Dollars in $10 increments through the counter in Starvaggi hall. Additionally, one can choose a Dining Dollars Plan from the meal plan form or check the box to add $100 in Dining Dollars to their Account. Dining Dollars may be used at all food service locations on campus and Brooklyn Bagel and Bennigans at Franciscan Square as well as Eat n Park locations in Weirton and Steubenville. Dining Dollars do carry over from semester to semester, but may not be transferred to another student’s account.

Meal Cards

The University ID card is used to make purchases at The Pub and Cupertino's Café, Egan Express, and Antonian Hall. Students must always present this card upon entering Antonian Hall, or when making a purchase with points or with Dining Dollars at all campus retail locations.

The University ID card is intended for its owner’s use only and may not be “shared” with others. Students may purchase meals or other items for family and friends with points, but the student must be present for the transaction. If a card is lost or stolen, students should contact the Enrollment Services Counter in Starvaggi Hall immediately so the card may be blocked against unauthorized use.

Carry Out Policy

Inside Antonian Hall, students may enjoy “all you care to eat and drink” style of service. However, no food or beverage may be carried out of the building. Students are expected to leave equipment such as utensils, glasses, cups, and plates inside the building. Replacement of these items contributes to increased meal costs.

To-go boxes are available at the late night meal service time. If a to-go box is selected, the student may not also eat a meal in the cafeteria at the same time.

In special cases, students can pre-arrange to have to-go meals by speaking with the dining services general manger. This may be considered for things like student teaching or clinicals where the student is unable to be on campus for meal times due to an academic commitment.

Allergy Awareness and Special Diets

Students will find that the wide variety of food selection will accommodate most dietary needs. If necessary, however, special diets can be arranged for resident students. If a student is not sure that his or her special needs will be met, the student should contact executive chef, Beau Dittmar (bdittmar@parkhurstdining.com), in Antonian Hall.

Sick Trays

Students who are sick and unable to go to the cafeteria should contact a resident assistant to fill out a Sick Tray Request located in the RA office. Once signed, the form and the student’s ID can be taken to the cafeteria by a friend who can bring a meal back to the sick student.

Retreats

A limited supply of food may be furnished in lieu of cafeteria meals for University-approved group functions such as retreats or field trips. A completed request form must be submitted to the Director of Catering, Jackie Crider Harris (jcharris@parkhurstdining.com), one week in advance so that the food may be ordered. Failure to submit the form one week in advance may result in an incomplete or unfulfilled order. A meal will be deducted for each meal missed during the retreat. If a meal is not available, then meal plan points will be deducted for the missed meal.

Student Employment

Food service positions for students are available in Antonian Hall and all retail locations. Positions do not require previous experience, and students are paid biweekly. Contact the general manager in Antonian Hall to inquire about positions.
