THE 772 Latin Patristics
This course provides an overview of the Latin Church Fathers and their contributions to the theological tradition. Topics may include the nature of theology; the relationship between theology, Scripture, liturgy, and the spiritual life; the early relationships between the Latin theological tradition and the Greek theological tradition; and the contributions of Latin Fathers to the development of core Christian doctrines. Priority will be given to primary texts, especially from one or more of the Four “Great” Latin Doctors: Ambrose, Augustine, Jerome, and Gregory.
